April Meeting

Danbury Village Hall"Constructors Competition"
CARS MembersOur April slot was the annual Constructors Competition. We had a great selection of entries competing for the cash prizes which were organised by our treasurer John M0JOC. Thanks to all who attended and voted. Pictured here are the three winners and our 'first time' entrant
We also thank Andy G1GKN, Martin G4TOO and Bob G4MDB for also entering as well - giving us plenty to think about and admire. It all made for a great evening, as did the seasonal raffle prizes (inc chocolate Easter Egg!)
- 1st - Noah 2E0XZD for his Digitally controlled VFO
- 2nd - Bruce G8BOS for a classic Valve amplifier entry
- 3rd - Normal M0FZW for his portable back-pack setup
- Newcomer - Rick 2E0VVY got the newcomers prize

RSGB Region-12
The May meeting was a great chance to meet the RSGB Regional Team and hear about their work, experiences, latest news, ask for help or input ideas. The attendees were:-
Brian succeeded David De La Haye and hails from Suffolk - so having him down in Essex was a great opportunity for all local amateurs/clubs to attend, meet and chat.
- Brian Woolnough M5ADQ - Region-12 Rep (East Anglia)
- Dave Cutts M0TAZ - Essex District Rep
Brian also has background as a Bletchley-NRC and AMSAT-UK volunteer (see his QRZ page). Dave Cutts is also well known for his amateur antenna and operating activities.

RSGB Region-12 covers Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire. Brian and Dave had some slides which helped give a great overview of the region and activities that they support, as part of the outreach and support work they do.
The event had been widely advertised and local amateurs/clubs were welcome to attend. Some useful discussions occurred on the challenges to the hobby from modrn society, changes in training etc. We also had tables for surplus hardware and goodies so there were bargains too which proved popular.
The meeting concluded with a presentation of a well-deserved 5WPM CW certificate to Noah 2E0XZD by Andy G0IBN - and the raffle.
