Following the successful centenary event on 14th February, CARS will return to Writtle for their 2MT Anniversary Weekend on Saturday 21st May. Writtle have a variety of events.

We plan to have both HF and VHF stations on air along with other demonstrations in the rear room of Writtle Village Hall (same place as February) Operators and volunteers should contact Paul G4PVM.

New Special Event Callsign GB9MT will be in use (9 being in the spirit of Experimental Transmissions).

Like February, thus is an excellent opportunity to meet and socialise.

GB9MT Special Event Station, Saturday 21-May-2022

As part of the weekend events programme CARS will again be running a special event station with Writtle Parish support. This time Ofcom have kindly granted the use of special callsign GB9MT.

Writtle Village Hall has been booked for ~10:30 - 16:30 - with setup time from ~09:30.

Visitors & Operators welcome.

Operating: We plan to have HF and V/UHF stations on the air CARS members are invited to come and operate or just drop in for a chat. If you are interested, please contact Paul G4PVM – g4pvm@g0mwt.org.uk

The GB9MT callsign is valid for club use from 11th May to 10th June, so it may be on air at other times. Writtle itself has a variety of events across the full weekend - see link below for details

Book: 2MT Writtle 1922-2022

Tim Wander has released a new limited edition colour book to mark the Centenary of British Radio Broadcasting and details/ordering is on 2mtwrittle100.co.uk. The book was launched on 17th May 2022 at the 2MT Writtle Heritage Lecture at Writtle University.
